Slides are fun, but how fun can they be? At Wet ‘n’ Wild Gold Coast, water slides come in a myriad of shapes, scales and trajectories, showing you just how fun they can get. Visitors to Wet ‘n’ Wild Gold Coast can thus expect a day of family-friendly excitement, entertained by water and slides in ways they never thought possible!

Make a splash without a worry

The moment you walk through the turnstiles of Wet ‘n’ Wild Gold Coast, you’ll realize that you don’t have a minute to waste. Straight ahead, you’ll find a wave pool the size of a football field. On either side, extreme slides tower over the park that you hear screams from a distance of 200 meters away. Which do you go for first?

But before you begin your wet and wild adventure, you’ve got to put your things somewhere. If all your family members/travel companions intend to take the rides, head to the park’s souvenir store to obtain an electronic locker pass tagged to your entry wristband. For 12 AUD (approximately 9 USD), guests are entitled to the use of a locker (that can store multiple bags, depending on size) for a day. Lockers may then be reopened as many times as you wish simply by scanning your park entry wristband. Concomitantly, you may also wish to store up cash credits in your wristband to purchase souvenirs and food around the park. It’s that easy: no keys or things to keep an eye on – just all out fun!

Planning your day right so everyone has fun

While the park’s official map only classifies its rides into two categories of “Family Fun” and “Thrill Rides”, they may also be grouped into three sub-types based on the group you are travelling with: group rides, individual rides, and challenge rides. Knowledge of these sub-types would be useful for guests to plan out their day at the park, to maximize your time there and include everyone in the group.

If you’re traveling with young children or family/friends who may not be suited for thrill rides, I recommend taking “Family Fun” group rides to start off the day together. These are rides that have group floats that can sit 2 to 4 people each, such as the River Rapids and Mammoth Falls. Such rides allow for everyone in the group to share common experiences, and serve as a build-up to the thrill rides for those in the group who are subsequently up for it.

On the other hand, members of the group who do not wish to take the thrill rides may then proceed to milder attractions such as Calypso Beach. A lazy river-type attraction, guests can let their cares float away as they relax on floats (provided at the attraction, as with all other rides) as they are carried along gentle currents without having to do anything. Alternatively, the Giant Wave Pool lives up to its name, with massive rhythmic waves that entertain both the young and old - so much so that some guests spend up to two hours there!

Excitement no ordinary slide can give you

Aqua Loop

Guests who seek adrenaline-pumping action will not be disappointed. In fact, the park’s thrill rides are arguably its main attractions.

Of note is the AquaLoop, an extraordinary slide that stands at a whooping 40-foot height. Imagine this: you enter a launch pod with arms crossed over your chest. You hear the hydraulic action of the trap door as it closes over you. It’s transparent, so you get to admire the view from up high, and wave to your friend in the next launch pod a few feet away. You hear an electronic female voice counting down from 3 and you’re instantly transported into a futuristic space exploration movie. The count stops at 1, and a pause ensues. The anticipation kills as you wonder if there’s a malfunction. All too suddenly, the platform under your feet splits open in a swift motion and you scream your lungs out in a free fall drop of up to 60km/h within the tube. The rush is so extreme that you might not even realize you’ve completed a 360-degree loop that follows!

If you wish to race your friends in a body slide, the Mach 5 Jetstream is a simple but steep slide that promises to get your heart racing. Alternatively, the Super 8 Aqua Racer is a gentle slide where riders lie on their stomachs on mats and kick off the starting platform, racing headfirst to see who can cross the finishing line first. Be it from the steep decline in the former, or the excitement that comes from a little friendly competition in the latter, guests can expect a sense of exhilaration after completing these rides.

Caution: each ride has certain health restrictions. For safety reasons, please check restrictions and risks listed on the information boards before entering the queues.

All at a steal deal!

If you’re feeling pumped up just by reading about these rides, then they’re sure to satisfy the adrenaline junkie in you when you visit Wet ‘n’ Wild Gold Coast! But there’s more. While admission is normally 64 AUD (approximately 50 USD), Wet ‘n’ Wild Gold Coast belongs to a group of parks managed by Village Theme Parks that includes Warner Bros. Movie World and Sea World. Simply look up your search engine for the latest package deals for these parks that are offered by many local travel agents!
