If you visit Palolem Beach, you must hop on the ferry to the secluded Butterfly Beach. The ferry ride cost us INR 1,500 (18.09 USD) per head, after some bargaining, and the experience was worth every penny. There is a guide on board who helps you spot interestingly shaped rocks in the middle of the sea; one was actually shaped like a monkey! You can also spot some dolphins playing in the water if you're lucky. The ferry stops at Butterfly Beach, giving you enough time to click photos and enjoy the beach. Prepare to get a little wet while climbing up or down the ferry and dress accordingly.
2. Anjuna Beach
If you need a bohemian-style beach experience in India, then you will thank the stars that you now know about Anjuna Beach. During the day, you have a myriad of fun activities to enjoy, including but not limited to jet skiing, parasailing, scuba diving, and windsurfing. After sunset, however, it all about partying. The beach comes to life, thanks to the plethora of bars and clubs that will be blasting various genres for music for the party animals. If you happen to be around on Wednesday, be sure to check the flea market for a few authentic souvenirs.

Anjuna Beach is one of my favorite places for shopping. There are vendors on the beach promenade selling a variety of goods. I love buying traditional print scarves and chunky jewelry for myself, as well as my loved ones, from here. The handmade, customizable bracelets are also great gifts for friends, and the vendors make them right in front of your eyes!
3. Calangute Beach
Calangute Beach is fondly known as the Queen of Goa beaches, and once you see its golden shimmering sands and the numerous shacks offering authentic Goan foods, you will understand why it befits the status of a queen. It is a great destination if you want to experience the ocean, as well as the culinary diversity of the region. This picture was taken on Agonda Beach, South Goa, and my face surely gives away how happy the place made me.
This is by far the cleanest and most serene beach I've been to and the water is clear, too! Lovely resorts line the area (I stayed at Forget Me Not Resort), which is quite secluded. I enjoyed some stunning sunsets on this beach while sitting on the soft sand. Since the area also has a lot of greenery, you will be greeted with cool breezes even during summer.
The only downside is that the beach gets dark and isolated after sunset, unlike the vibrant beaches of North Goa. So, it's ideal for spending leisurely hours on sunny mornings and afternoons. Most beachside resorts here also have loungers facing the sea, so you can even chill there with a cocktail in hand.
10. Cola Beach
Cola Beach is tucked away in South Goa and offers a refreshing experience to nature lovers. The beach is uniquely located between the Arabian Sea and a lagoon. You can swim in the sea or explore the beautiful lagoon by kayaking on the water. Rent a kayak on the spot for a nominal fee of 150 INR (1.80 USD) and enjoy cruising down the lagoon lined by swaying palm trees for 30 minutes.
There is also a seaside restaurant where you can stop for a hearty seafood meal. Do note that the trek to the beach is quite rugged, so you might need to rent a car to take you down the bumpy road.

11. Miramar Beach
Located in the heart of the city of Panaji, this beach is a tranquil haven for those looking for a less crowded place. The beach offers plenty of parking space, but you will have to walk for about 10 minutes on the sand to reach the shore. Sitting on the sandy shore, you can get a glimpse of the adjacent Aguada Fort. Besides that, there are frequent ferry trips, which include Aguada Fort, Aguada Jail, and dolphin viewing.
After a fun time playing in the waters, you can stop by the adjacent Cremeux, serving delicious desserts, savory treats, and refreshing drinks.

12. Betalbatim beach

Have you heard of the Goan beach that glows in the dark? This is the one! Betalbatim Beach has been becoming increasingly popular for adventure lovers but it is still safely away from the reach of over-tourism. I am one of the many who describe the beach as among the most stunning beaches in South Goa. I could visit it every day for spectacular sunrises and sunsets as well as dolphin-spotting and bird watching. The adrenaline junkies would love to know that Betalbatim is a great spot for waterskiing, windsurfing, and parasailing. One of the top restaurants in Goa, Martin’s Corner is located here but reserve in advance because this culinary institution gets filled up real fast! If you wish to witness the bioluminescence phenomenon, I suggest that you visit between November and February.
13. Patnem beach

Patnem is one of the quietest beaches in Goa, well, at least for the next few years until it’s not offbeat anymore I think. It is where the gorgeous yoga practitioners and old souls go to disconnect and recharge, alone or with their loved ones. A short distance from the most happening Palolem Beach, Patnem is at its best between October and March/April. Attending yoga retreats, grooving to live music by traveling artists, and lazying by the beach are some of the common activities that I enjoy here. If you are up for something fun, the Patnem beach volunteers organize a beach run every Wednesday at 5 PM (starts in front of Namaste Cafe) - get there half an hour early. As a cinephile, I would surely check out the movie screening by the beach at Lotus Oasis Beach Hut shack happening every Saturday.
14. Kakolem beach

Editor’s Note: There’s no photo available at the time of writing
Think Goa is overcrowded and there is not a single beach left to enjoy solitude? Well, thank me later! Kakolem Beach, also known as the ‘Tiger Beach’, is an actual hidden gem that is best accessed by boat. You can get there on foot as well but it is pretty challenging and requires traversing through many narrow paths. However, I wouldn’t mind the rugged terrain at all if I get to take pleasure in the magnificent cliffs and unruly wildlife views that surround the crescent-shaped beach. I find the lack of beach shacks or shops in the area a downer so you should carry water and snacks if you want to be here for a while. Also, there is nothing around except for a cliff resort, so avoid swimming since there are no rescuers. Please don’t leave any trash on the beach!
15. Cabo de Rama Beach

Surprisingly, Cabo de Rama Beach remains untouched despite the increasing popularity of its namesake Cabo de Rama Fort. Tucked behind an imposing cliff, the beach can be reached after a quick walk down some rocky, old steps. Swaying palms, lush-green cliffs reflecting on azure blue waters, and soft white sands are some of the things I look forward to here. I love that I can just get a picnic basket and a beach towel and already make it a special day with my loved ones. Feeling something fancier than getting sand in all the wrong places? The Cape, Goa is an idyllic restaurant perched atop the ridge that offers some stunning views of the sand, sea, and sky, and some abso-freakin’ delish food!

That's me in Galigibaga Beach, South Goa. One of the hidden gems. There were hardly any tourists. We even spotted dolphins jumping through the waves. And crabs were crawling freely everywhere through the golden sandy beach. It is also the nesting ground for Olive Ridley turtles, but we did not spot them.
