Something about Fuqi Hostel at Heping Street

Fuqi Hostel was established in 2010 at Zhongzheng Street. However, since the hostel has made quite the reputation in Tainan, they decided to expand and build a second hostel. The second hostel was officially in business in early February 2015 and was built at Heping Street, which brings us to it’s name: Fuqi Hostel-Heping. Although the hostel is quite new, you won’t really notice it since everything is very well organized and everyone is very friendly and professional. As a way to improve and develop more, Fuqi Hostel has a ‘Work for Accommodation’ program where travelers can volunteer at the hostel in exchange for accommodation (this requires at least a 1-month stay period).

Like hostels in general, Fuqi Hostel-Heping provides different kinds of rooms and affordable rate, beginning from double and triple bedrooms to male, female and mix dorm rooms. The rates on average are from 500 to 1400 NTD (approximately 15 to 42 USD). The beds are comfortable and have curtains on the sides, so even if you choose to stay in a dorm room, you still have your own privacy. This hostel obviously knows what a traveler needs since they have a night light, socket and a little basket for your phone.

Other services and amenities

Aside from their comfortable rooms, Fuqi Hostel-Heping also offers a few other services. On arrival, travelers will be given a hand-drawn map along with information regarding the area. There is a public kitchen equipped with a coffee machine, microwave, oven, toaster; perfect for those travelers who love to cook their own meal. Free Wi-Fi and desktop computers are also available for those who would like to connect to social networks or work. Fuqi Hostel-Heping also organizes occasional activities, such as barbeque night during the Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Cake Festival), a festival celebrating the harvest season in which Taiwanese celebrate by having a barbeque with friends and family.

Send a postcard to the future at Fuqi-Heping Hostel

Aside from all the good things mentioned above, Fuqi Hostel-Heping has an interesting service that is not very commonly found in other hostels: Fuqi-Heping Hostel helps their guests to send postcards. However, these are not just postcards, they are postcards to the future. First, the traveler would write a postcard and pay the stamp fee according to the country of destination. Afterwards, they will choose a month when they want the postcards to be delivered. Once the time comes, the staff at the hostel will help send the postcards off. Such a cool idea!
