One of the most appealing aspects of Hao Wang Jiao is its glass exterior which brings a really dreamy quality to it. The owner also added a lot of lovely touches to the site with stone sculptures and cute figurines dotting the ground, with welcoming words like “Home Sweet Home” and “Love In Hao Wang Jiao” printed on it.

The interior of the B & B doesn’t disappoint either with romantic glass-stained lamps and teddy bears in the lobby, which makes you feel like lounging there the moment you step in. It is apparent that the owner has put in a lot of thought into the decoration of the place. Every intention is to impress the guests and give them the best possible stay. This B & B will be especially suitable for girlfriends or couples looking for a romantic stay with many photo-taking opportunities.

The rooms in Hao Wang Jiao come with different themes, which you can choose when you make a booking. For example, in the Mediterranean themed room, you can stay in a room with hues of blue and white, or choose a room with a huge rose mural for the rose-themed room. There is even a with furnishings reminiscent of the Impressionist Baroque era. For me, I chose the cheaper Green Field themed room, but was given the opportunity to upgrade to the Galaxy Palace themed room for a small fee as it happened to be vacated on the day I checked in. This is the benefit you get when the person checking you in also happens to be the owner!

A Galaxy Palace themed room in the glass house starts at 3000 TWD (95 USD) for 2 people per night.

Indulge in a hot soak while taking in the views outside

The Galaxy Palace themed room comes with a four poster bed, an artistic brick wall and even an open bath tub right beside the glass windows. However, don’t worry if you do not feel like showering right beside the glass panel because there are curtains, and the room also comes with a bathroom with shower facilities.

At night, feel free to walk up to the top level where you will be greeted with unparalleled night views of Lanyang flatland. Definitely a great view to end the night!

Simple but tasty breakfast cooked by the boss herself

Breakfast is a simple affair where you get home-cooked food whipped up by the female boss! You get treated to a hearty breakfast composed of standard Taiwanese breakfast staples like porridge, pork floss, beancurd, bamboo shoots, vegetables, salted egg and a chive pancake. Certainly not an elaborate or expensive breakfast, but definitely comfort food at its best and a home-cooked meal is the best way to experience genuine Taiwanese food. You can choose to eat your meal outdoors where you will have fantastic mountain views. Breakfast is included in the room rate.

Ideal stay for day trippers to Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area

Hao Wang Jiao is located in Datong Township, quite a distance from downtown Yilan but along the way for those looking to visit Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area, which is in the same township. As Hao Wang Jiao is located in the mountains, it is not exactly the most accessible location, so it is best to come with your own transport or to be prepared to book a cab to visit nearby attractions.

Hao Wang JIao is a short distance from attractions like Pi Long Lake Scenic Area (2.2 miles, 3.5 km), Spring Onion Museum (3.7 miles, 6 km), Fushan Botanical Garden ( 5.7 miles, 9.2 km), and Mingchih Forest Recreation Area (7.7 miles, 12.4 km).

For those intending to make a trip to Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area, it is a good idea to leave your luggage at Hao Wang Jiao before proceeding to take a bus or car up to Taipingshan, where you can spend the day exploring before coming back at night for a comfortable night stay.
