Imagine waking up to the beach and sea right outside your door. A hammock and chair await you for a day of lounging, swimming and immersing yourself in a good book. There is no reason to wear shoes when you stay at Phi Phi Relax Beach Resort. A twenty minute long-tail boat ride from the main pier of Koh Phi Phi will take you to this private resort located on the south side of the island. With 47 bungalows on the property, each has sea views with units available right on the beach.
The beach view bungalows
No matter which bungalow you choose, there will be views of the beach, with the beachfront bungalows being the best. All bungalows have a private deck with lounge cushions to lay and relax on while you’re taking in the views. Each room has a fan to keep you cool at night while you sleep in your big, soft queen size bed. There are mosquitos on the island, but the bed has netting to keep them away from you while you’re asleep. The bathroom has a shower head that allows you to take a cool water shower after being in the hot sun all day. It’s best if you close your windows at night as there are wild monkeys that roam the property. If you ask, the groundskeepers will take you to see and feed them.
A resort meant for pure relaxation
As the name of the property states, they want you to relax at their resort for the length of your stay. As it is a private resort, electricity is limited and available only from 6pm – 6am. Make sure you charge your kindle and cell phone before 6am as there’s nowhere to charge it until the electricity turns back on at 6pm. There is one restaurant at the resort that has an extensive food menu of Western and Thai fare. There is also a bar right on the beach that has a daily happy hour. Don’t miss out on the mango rum shakes that taste absolutely delicious. There are plenty of public hammocks on the beach for you to relax and lose yourself in a book during the day.
Snorkel in your private aquarium
This South end of the island is a popular snorkel spot for the boats. Located right on the coral reef, you’re able to rent a mask and snorkel for 50 THB (1.50 USD) and go out when the boats aren’t there. The best time to go out is early morning to have the whole bay to yourself. The reef is just a couple hundred meters from the beach. You’ll witness giant clams, sergeant majors, banner fish and =butterfly fish. Don’t forget to bring your GoPro to document it!
Leave relaxed and rejuvenated
The sunrises are breathtaking and you’d feel like you’re on your own private island. The tropical bungalows range from 2,100 THB (57.83 USD) for a Garden Bungalow to 3,400 THB (93.62 USD) for a beachfront bungalow in high season with significant discounts in low season ranging from 1,800 THB (49.57 USD) to 3,000 THB (82.61 USD). After spending a week mostly disconnected from the outside world and reconnected with the beach and sea, you’ll feel rejuvenated and relaxed, ready to go back to your daily life.
