1. Madan Mohan Temple

Built in 1850, this amazing temple is one of the oldest in the entire city. The enormous temple stands at the height of 60 feet (18.28 meters), close to the Kali Ghat, and it was constructed by Kapur Ram Das of Multan. Madan Mohan Temple was originally the home of Lord Madan Gopal and had been the place where the Lord’s idol was enshrined and worshipped. However, the deity was moved by Mughul ruler, Aurangzeb, to Karauli in Rajasthan. Even after the move, the temple remains one of the most important sites of worship in the town, with a replica idol currently in place of the original.

2. Banke Bihari Temple

This religious sanctuary houses idols of Hindu Lord Krishna standing in the Tribhanga posture and his consort, Radha Rani. The holy ground was built in 1864 by Swami Haridas and has been one of the main sites of worship in the town. Banke Bihari Temple is a favorite destination among the Hindu devotees, especially between July and August (the month of Sravana). Marvel at the glittering gold plated 50-feet high (15.24 meters) Dhwaja stambha at the fabulous Rangaji Temple. Built in the Dravidian style structure in the 19th-century, this magnificent temple is to honor Lord Rangaji or Ranganatha, who is shown as Lord Vishnu. The temple also has a six-floors high gopuram and a few other features to make your trip even more fascinating and engaging. There is a gorgeous garden and a water tank on the temple grounds. The temple also hosts Rath Ka Mela, which is a 10-day long festival held here annually.

4. Govind Dev Temple

Popularly often referred to as Govindaji Temple, Govind Dev Temple, is another ancient temple. This place of worship was initially built in 1590 and features seven floors. It combines a mixture of Western, Muslim and Hindu architectural styles. Govind Dev Temple was built by Raja Man Singh, and is designed in the shape of a Greek cross using red sandstone that was donated by Mughal Emperor Akbar. This monumental edifice now lies in ruins as it was destroyed by Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. Tour this historical place with a good number of other daily visitors.

5. Akshaya Patra Temple

A unique temple sitting on the outskirts of Vrindavan, Akshaya Patra Temple, is worth a visit. This site is also called the Radha Vrindavan Chandra Mandir, and it is devoted to Lord Krishna and Radha. The stand out feature of this temple, however, is its massive kitchen with many equipment and containers to provide food for hundreds of school children daily. This kitchen is dedicated to providing free lunches for needy school children. It has altars for its deities on different floors, as well as an amphitheater on its right side.

6. Mata Vaishno Devi Dham

Featuring vast sculptures of the Devi, this beautiful temple is a great place to visit. It is made in the likeness of the Vaishno Devi Temple in Katra and boasts of an unusual architectural structure and a very tall statue of the goddess Durga in front of it. This religious sanctuary is very well maintained, serene and has a heavenly ambiance. You will be treated to some pleasant devotional music (bhajan) playing in the background while they say their prayers to the goddess. P.S. phones, belts, leather products, and purses are not allowed inside the temple premises.

7. Prem Mandir - Shyama Shyam Dham

Undoubtedly the biggest and most popular attraction in the town is the Prem Mandir - Shyama Shyam Dham. Located in the heart of Vrindavan, this two-floor building sits on 54 acres (21.85 hectares) of pristine land. On entry, you will be greeted by a high temple with idols of the sacred deities. The temple boasts of 94 hand-carved pillars and stunning gardens all around with fountains. There is also a large lecture hall within the temple.

8. Krishna Balaram Mandir

Sri Krishna-Balaram Mandir is a famous temple in Vrindavan. More famously referred to as the ISKCON Temple, this beautiful temple was the first to get built by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). Established in 1975, this iconic temple is built with gorgeous white marbles and has three sacred sanctuaries. The temple has the deities of Lord Krishna-Balaram, Radha Krishna and statues of ISKCON’s founder, Swami Prabhupada. The temple is also the final resting place of Swami Prabhupada. The whole site and its surroundings are kept impeccably clean and very serene.

10. Shahji Temple

Shahji Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, and it was built by Shah Kundan Lal. The wealthy jeweler of Lucknow carefully designed the temple to give that befitting worship place for Lord Krishna. The temple is completed with beautiful marble sculptures and features 12 spiral columns and a darbar hall with amazing paintings and Belgian chandeliers. The deity of Lord Krishna enshrined at this temple is known as Chhote Radha Raman. It is one of the fascinating temples to visit in the country.
