Sausalito, California is a scenic city that is fun to walk through while gazing at the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge or even the big and beautiful city of San Francisco. Getting away from the big city but still having a nice view of the city and the Pacific Ocean is why this place is one of my favorites in California. I feel quite relaxed being here since I love water and as it is for many people, it is relaxing. Be sure to stop here when you are in San Francisco. You’ll find plenty of places to stay during your vacation, such as hotels and Airbnb vacation rentals. Read on below and find out the best things to do in Sausalito, California.

This is a place that was built with the intention of rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing marine mammals who are injured, ill, or abandoned. It is free of charge and open to the public. Tours and educational programs are offered, but you can also explore the animals and exhibits on your own. It is worth doing since the animals here are very cute and friendly. You will most likely see California Sea Lions, Harbor Seal Pups and Northern Elephant Seals.

This is a great place to walk around the while enjoying the views. Explore the many shops and get some souvenirs or sit down and eat at one of the many restaurants, most of which offer beautiful views of San Francisco. It is a fun place to stroll down and see the sights. The locals and tourists alike really like to be here. I love walking here since it is so refreshing being by the ocean.

3. San Francisco Bay-Delta Model Visitor Center

This is a 3D model of the San Francisco Bay that was built in 1957 for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Now that technology has advanced and taken over, they no longer depend on the model. That is why it has become a famous tourist attraction that is free of charge. People come to see the enormous model that offers a simulated tidal action that changes every few minutes. This model is capable of recreating the 24-hour tidal cycle in less than 15 minutes and is definitely something to see in the city of Sausalito.

It is right by the bay, so families will enjoy taking in the view while visiting here. There are events and programs geared towards kids and families as well. It is a nice place to educate young kids about science and history. Finally, there are special events held here for kids and adults as well. It is right by the ocean, so be sure to take a minute or a few minutes and enjoy the surroundings while the kids run around in the open space.

5. Bill Dan Balancing Rocks

Every time I see this show in Sausalito, I am fascinated. Bill Dan is a local artist that puts on a show along the Sausalito waterway for the public to enjoy. It is not easy to balance rocks and he is an expert at it. It is a show worth seeing while you are walking around the town of Sausalito. He is quite impressive, so do stop here before going back to your hotel.
