Check out our article on things to do in Ubud at night while we fill you in on the most Instagrammable Airbnb villa in Ubud, Bali. Get your phones and cameras ready!

1. Insta-worthiness of this Ubud villa

In this day and age, social media has a great influence on the way we travel. Doing it for the ‘gram has become a habit for most of us as we try to snap the perfect picture to share with our friends and followers. As such, we’ve done the research for you and found this instagrammable villa in Bali where every corner from the rooms to even the bathrooms is an ideal space to go snap some memories that will last for a lifetime.

Rooms

If you’re spending a considerable amount of time inside your villa whilst on holiday, you will want to be in a space that has exquisite interior design and decor. There are 12 bedrooms here and each has a different outlook, so we think you might need to play “rock, paper, scissors” to decide who stays in which. All rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, so no more fighting about who goes first and last during bathtime.

This cosy accommodation can fit up to 32 people, so it’s ideal for a big group who would like to stay under one roof. Each room also comes with a king-sized bed, a sofa and a work area. Would you like to take home some of the art pieces in the villa? They can be purchased, so just make a request.

Bathroom

How often do you get to chill in a bathtub while enjoying the greenery outside? Here, at this luxurious villa in Bali, one may do so! Filled with designer furnishings, the villa features a bathtub next to a huge picture window, so you can be one with nature. Wind down with a bubble bath, some scented candles, and a glass of wine in hand and you’ll have some picture-perfect memories made.

Other Instagrammable corners

Apart from the Instagrammable rooms and bathrooms here, there are potential photo opportunities around the villa compound, as well. Best of all, there will be no queues, as you rent out the place all to yourself!

2. Villa facilities that are perfect for big groups

Travelling in a big group isn’t always easy. But with villa facilities that are especially geared towards groups, holiday planning is a breeze! Have a splashing fun time in the swimming pools, enjoy a calming yoga session at the pagoda, or a deep heart-to-heart conversation in the common area.

Swimming pool

Swimmers – put your hands up! Take a dip in the 50-metre (164 feet) Olympic swimming pool – a good way to burn off the local delights and street food you’ve enjoyed on your holiday. Non-swimmers, fret not. You can relax indoors or have a tanning session by the shallow pool while sipping on some coconut water. Do note that the pool will be shared with the other villa guests, so exercise consideration.

Diving pool

For thrill-seekers, there’s a diving pool. Know a few tricks or two? It’s time to impress the people around you!

Yoga pagoda

Yogis and yoginis looking to bring their practice all the way to Bali can book the yoga pagoda for your workout session. For non-practitioners, there’s no better time than now to start a yoga practice. In fact, there are so many mental and physical benefits to yoga, we don’t know where to start! First-timers can try Yin Yoga or aromatherapy yoga for a start. The space is also an ideal activity area for team retreats.

Common area for chilling – perfect for team retreats

If you’ve had the experience of travelling in a big group, you will know getting everyone together in the same place at once isn’t easy. Thus, you’ll be happy to know that there are comfy common areas for the whole team to gather together for meals, discussions, or simply to just hang out after a day of activities outside. There are also long tables that can fit up to 20 people and smaller tables in cosy corners. The restaurant area also has seats available.

3. Food options in the villa

What’s a holiday without delicious food? This is not just only a beautiful villa in Bali, but one that serves good food. There’s an on-site organic restaurant, where you can dine in privacy and enjoy your three meals at your convenience. There are a la carte and buffet options available, as well.

Breakfast menu

You’ve probably heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After a good night’s rest, it’s time to replenish your glucose levels and take in the essential nutrients you need to survive the team activities at noon. For big groups, you can opt for their buffet, which is at a cost of 5 USD per person. You can enjoy pancakes, fruit, beverages and toast.

We tried the a-la-carte menu at 3 USD per person and thought that it’s more value for money, so we highly recommend that you choose this option. Our tummies were filled with omelettes, toast with poached eggs, and muesli with yoghurt – just the right amount of food to fuel our bodies for the day ahead.

Lunch & dinner menu

Since we enjoyed the a-la-carte menu for breakfast, we tried the buffet option for dinner. What’s awesome about it is you can discuss the menu options with the restaurant chef and customizing the dishes at an affordable 15 USD per person.

We had a spread of food that included fragrant fried rice, potato wedges, crispy fried chicken, BBQ tempeh, vegetables, sweet and sour pork, stir-fried glass noodles, and savoury black-pepper tuna. And, of course, for those who prefer to have it the a-la-carte way, you can do so. The restaurant serves Asian cuisine that includes dishes like chicken sate, nasi goreng, or mee goreng, all within the price of 3 to 5 USD.

4. Scenic nature spots near the villa (within a 30-minute drive)

Nature lovers will fall in love with these picturesque nature spots. Best of all, they are approximately a 30-minute drive away, so not much time is wasted on the road. The Campuhan Ridge Walk, Tegallalang Rice Terrace, and Tegenungan Waterfall are the ones to look out for, so let’s delve into the details.

Campuhan Ridge Walk

Located approximately 4.4 km (2.7 miles) from the villa is the Campuhan Ridge Walk, a location known for its hiking trail that runs through paddy fields and panoramic hilltop views. It is a 5 to 10-minute walk from central Ubud and the entire hike will take you about 1 to 2 hours. We recommend hiking in the morning to avoid the excessive afternoon heat and crowds.

After the hike, get a cuppa at Karsa cafe, a busy coffee spot with a great view, or drop into any other cafe or restaurant along the way in town. Reward yourself with a massage at the Karsa Spa, located right next to the cafe.

Tegallalang Rice Terrace

Rejuvenated and well-rested from your hour-long massage session, drive on for about 20-minutes to reach the Tegallalang Rice Terrace. Heads up, this spot is popular among tourists. Nonetheless, the terraced hillside offers a beautiful sight of rice paddies and there are even ziplines and jungle swings here.

Do take note that payment is required for taking photos, so if you’re more of a traveller than a tourist, skip this and make your way down to the bottom of the terrace for a different, but equally rewarding view. There are also cafes and restaurants in the vicinity, just in case you need to fill those ever-hungry tummies.

Tegenungan Waterfall

After a lot of walking, you can head to the Tegenungan Waterfall in the early evening or set off the next morning afresh. Approximately 12 km (7.5 miles) from the villa, the main waterfall area is usually crowded with tourists having a splashing good time and taking photos. In order to capture some photos without the photo-bombers, you may need to either head up close to the waterfall or to the smaller hidden waterfall on your way up to the exit.

The Kemenuh Orchid Garden and Kemenuh Butterfly Park are in the vicinity. Families travelling with children can head to Bali Fun World and the Bali Zoo, also located nearby.

Which should you book: Airbnbs vs Hotels & Resorts

At this point, you must be wondering about the benefits of staying in an Airbnb and if it is really better than a hotel or resort. As we’ve pointed out, travelling in a big group is often a headache when it comes to finding accommodation that fits everyone under one roof. With an Airbnb villa that accommodates up to 30 over people, team bonding activities are made easier. Also, while everyone can enjoy the privacy of their own room, you can also enjoy having meals together, playing board games, or just enjoy being in the presence of one another.

Considering these benefits and more, it is also better value for money to rent a whole space for your family and friends, with facilities that are shared among other villa guests. We did a quick check on the prices for a weekend stay in June 2020 and these were our findings:

Comparison chart of booking a villa from Airbnb vs hotel vs resorts in Ubud, Bali (for 12 pax)

Bali Villa From Airbnb Hotel Resort
Name of Accommodation Family home for 12! Ubud Great Views Nature Walks Element By Westin Bali Ubud Beji Ubud Resort
Type Superhost 4-star 4-star
Price USD 250 USD 642 USD 476

At a glance, booking a villa in Bali with Airbnb is definitely cheaper than staying in a 4-star hotel or resort. In fact, hotel and resort rooms are subject to availability and it will definitely be a challenge to get everyone in rooms near to each other. If you’ve ever travelled with a family of 5 or more, it’s sometimes even difficult for the front desk to find 2 rooms right beside each other or even on the same floor.

Considering the benefits, we think Airbnb does the trick for a big group, saving you the headache of finding a hotel or resort that can accommodate your requests.
