One of Jharkhand’s most beautiful cities and its capital, Ranchi is on the bucket list of every nature lover. If you’re visiting, my advice would be to travel via train to Ranchi Junction Railway Station, the larger of the two stations in the city, which is connected to most major cities in India. Though plane rides are more convenient, the gorgeous scenery as you climb up Chota Nagpur Plateau to reach the station is worth the extra time.
Once you’re here, do check out some of my favorite attractions, Dassam Falls and Tagore Hill. For a panoramic view of the city, I’d suggest heading to Pahari Mandir.
If you’re here for a quick getaway, consider staying in a hotel close to the station, so you can be in and out in a jiffy. For options, check out the best hotels near Ranchi Junction Railway Station below.

1. Capitol Residency (from USD 78)
Set an easy 10-minute walk from the station, Capitol Residency is a wonderful option for those on the go. This is what I would recommend for business travelers, as the amenities here are excellent for digital nomads, including free Wi-Fi. I also enjoy the free parking facilities when I’m making a stop here for the delicious lunch buffets at the on-site restaurant, Melangé. While all the items on offer are great, I would definitely recommend that you try the Chinese dishes.

2. Radisson Blu Hotel Ranchi (from USD 140)
Radisson Blu Hotel Ranchi is one of my favorite picks in the city for a lot of reasons, including its beautiful interiors. In keeping with the brand, the hotel also has a host of amenities to keep you content. On most of my visits, I simply relax by the clear pool, but you can also spend some time in the spa if you have stress to massage away.
Since the hotel is only a six-minute drive away from the station, booking a stay here is a no-brainer.

3. Chanakya Bnr Hotel (from USD 83)
Chanakya Bnr Hotel is one of the closest hotels to the station, being a mere five-minute walk away. You won’t even need to book a cab, which I think is what my loved ones enjoy most about this hotel. Plus, the vast vast 5-ac (2.02-ha) grounds certainly don’t hurt. Whenever I visit Chanakya Bnr Hotel, I make sure to take some time out to walk through its lush gardens.
This hotel also has great amenities for events, in case you’re here for a special occasion!

4. Capitol Hill (from USD 82)
Instantly recognizable from its architecture and only a six-minute drive from the station, Capitol Hill is my family’s most beloved choice when it comes to eating out. Its restaurant, Yellow Sapphire, is a gem with the most delicious food and a vast menu. It even hosts a lunch buffet every Sunday! Some of my personal favorites here include the chicken biryani and chocolate roll.
During your stay here, do be sure to keep an eye out for any special events being organized by the hotel. I love the festivals and exhibitions organized here, which offer a variety of must-have garments, home décor items, or jewelry.

5. Le Lac Sarovar Portico- Ranchi (from USD 57)
Reasonable pricing for business and family trips, with occasional free room upgrades.
Exceptional room cleanliness, good WiFi, and efficient room service.
Centrally located with easy access to attractions and court registration, facing the lake in a premium location.
Buffet breakfast and overall food quality is very good, with some areas for improvement in food variety and pricing.
Around 10 minutes away from the station, Le Lac Sarovar Portico- Ranchi is known for its proximity to Ranchi’s bustling Firayalal Chowk. There was a time when the entirety of my wardrobe consisted of items from Firayalal, the area’s eponymous shopping outlet. Some of the items I look out for here are the gorgeous silk sarees, trendy Western clothes, and kids’ attire.
While you’re here, do try the litti chokha at Flavours, the hotel’s on-site restaurant. This excellent Bihari dish is one of my go-to breakfast items.
