There are a lot of things to do in Gettysburg, but the best things to do are when the sun goes down. There are a lot of ghost tours around this area as they say the townspeople and soldiers’ spirits still reside there. If visitors aren’t too afraid of ghosts, they will have quite the evening in Gettysburg!
1. Jennie Wade Ghost Tour
Posted by The Jennie Wade House on Wednesday, 21 September 2016
The Jennie Wade house is awesome to see during the day but at night it’s even better. The museum hosts a ghost tour in the area when it’s pitch black outside. It’s a pretty cool experience since visitors are in complete darkness the entire time. It’s not extremely terrifying but it’s not recommended for children under the teenage years as it can be a bit frightening for them.

2. Gettysburg Ghost Tours

This particular ghost tour in Gettysburg does a lot of stuff outside, so be sure to where comfortable shoes and proper clothing for the weather. It can get chilly in the evening, even if it’s the middle of the summer. This is a fun experience, but definitely not recommended for children under the age of 14. They do some pretty scary stuff in the fields that wouldn’t make good memories for them. Although, it’s fun to scare the adults in the group!

3. Reliance Mine Saloon
Fire is roaring! $2.00 Yuengling Bottles All Night Tonight!
Posted by The Reliance Mine Saloon on Saturday, 1 November 2014
This is a bar that gets pretty hoppin’ at night, but it’s not just any old bar. They do a lot of different historical themed events for customers and if customers have questions about the battlefields or other areas of Gettysburg, they are more than happy to answer them. While the bar is not set up like an actual saloon, there is the cool painting on the back wall of an old town during the Civil War ages. The beer is good, the company is great, and this is a bar that shouldn’t be left out.

4. Garryowen Irish Pub
This pub not only has good food, they have a really nice atmosphere. The drinkers here don’t seem to get drunk while there are other people in the pub. And the workers there are super friendly. The lighting is pretty dim when walking into the bar but as the customer’s eyes adjust, they can see that the tables, chairs and bar counter are made all out of wood. It looks pretty cool and definitely the bar to try out if someone needs a drink.

5. Farnsworth House Ghost Walks and Mourning Theater
This is the longest running tour in Gettysburg, which means they know what they are doing. The tour guides on these tours are very knowledgeable of the area and tell some great stories while showing visitors around the Farnsworth House by candlelight. It is recommended that those who wish to go on this particular tour get tickets in advance as it is the most popular one in Gettysburg.

6. Sleepy Hollow of Gettysburg Candlelight Ghost Tours
This is another great ghost tour in Gettysburg. Some of the workers have been here for over 50 years, so they’ve got some great stories to tell to those that visit. The story tellers also have some great old time costumes and speak in slight accents, like they would have so long ago.

7. Blue and Gray Bar and Grill
The Blue and Gray Bar and Grill has some good food and a nice atmosphere, although if going on a weekend, keep in mind that most bars do tend to get a little rowdy now and then. Their food is like a regular diner with a twist. They’ve got some great sandwiches and french-fries with a good amount of alcohol to choose from for those who wish to have a drink. But the sandwiches are huge. There are several layers to some of the sandwiches they sell, making them much bigger than what most customers can get their mouth around. And if customers can finish their meal, they have some great desserts for the sweet toothed visitors.

8. Mason Dixon Distillery
We're going to do our best to make sure it breaks 70 degrees tomorrow by doing a little warmer weather cocktail dance....

Not too pricey for those that need a drink, Mason Dixon Distillery has a good way of making their customers feel welcome. Their drinks list is a long one but don’t feel the need to try them all in one night.

9. Dobbin House Tavern
Another great place to visit in the evening is the Dobbin House Tavern. The workers are very welcoming and friendly to everyone. They have a little gift shop in the building for those that like to shop and take home some memories. Their food is so good and leaves customers very satisfied, although a little too full. Definitely check out the Dobbin House Tavern for a meal one evening.
