First Stop Backpacker Hostel in Keelung is a budget accommodation established in 2013 by two adventurous Taiwanese women, Amy and Ann. Both of them decided to share their love for tourism and hospitality not long after their working holiday in Australia by opening their own hostel.

The hostel is located near Qidu Train Station, which is considered as a very local and tranquil neighborhood, and is a great option for travelers on a budget who want to explore northern Taiwan.

First Stop Backpacker Hostel might be a budget accommodation, but it does not mean you will have a less pleasant experience. On the contrary, Amy and Ann will make sure that you make the most of your visit. Before arriving, your hosts will send a reminder about the rules and regulations of the hostel, which are quite easy to understand. Arriving at the hostel, they will brief you about the area and give you maps and guides regarding places to explore.

Regarding facilities, First Stop Backpacker Hostel pretty much has it all for a hostel. There are 4 dorm rooms and 2 private rooms with shared bathrooms and showers. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the hostel along with a self-service kitchen. Other necessities such as laundry powder can be purchased in the hostel and a self-service washing machine is available for usage. The hostel also provides pickup and drop off services for a fee.

Getting to and around First Stop Backpacker Hostel

Getting to and around First Stop Backpacker Hostel is amazingly easy, but requires an adventurous spirit since it involves a certain amount of walking and getting on public transportations such as trains and buses. The hostel is 10 minutes away from Qidu Train Station, which can be reached by taking a train from Taipei. The way to get there is not complicated and your hosts will also send you map of the area so it is impossible to get lost.

When getting around the area, you most likely will be going through small communities such as Houtong, the Pingxi Line, Jiufen, etc. You can get to these destinations by taking trains from the train stations and also buses. Your hosts will give information regarding places to visit along with an estimation of transport fares; usually train tickets to the destinations close by will cost less than 150 TWD (approximately 5 USD).
