During your exploration in the Taman Safari 2, you need not fret about hidden snakes from the bush or apply insect repellent to protect yourself from mosquito bites. You don’t even have to worry about getting exhausted from walking for several kilometers within the park. Your mode of travel is by vehicle, so be it adults or children, you can enjoy sightings of wild animals in their natural habitats from within the comfort of the safari bus (provided by the park for a free ride) or your car with air-conditioning and your favorite music.

Feed animals from inside your car

Besides lions, tigers and wild buffalos, the wildlife zone in the 860-acre park include animals who are herbivorous. You will see zebras and camels roaming along the driveway. Apparently, it is not for nothing these animals approach us. As far as they know, humans are kind and generous beings who like to share carrots with them! Feeding animals can be a fun thing to do, especially when you can do it from inside your vehicle!

When you open your car window, don’t be surprised when a giraffe’s head unexpectedly sneak into your car from the window. In case you mistaken, this giraffe doesn’t want to ride the car with you. It just wants to know if it is lucky enough to get some carrots that you may have bought for 0.50 USD a bunch near the park’s entrance. It will leave for another car when you have nothing more to offer.

Getting up close and personal with wildlife

Had enough of the safari ride? At the end of the ride, you will see a zoo. You may park your car at the nearby lots. In this zoo, you will see more variety of animals, including the white tigers, orangutans, python, snakes, etc. Most visitors, including children, do not want to miss the chance of getting up close with the lion or tiger cubs. You can even carry the cubs and have your photo taken with them. It costs 1 USD per photo session. You can take as many photos as you like with your own camera and will also receive a complimentary postcard photo taken by the park’s photographer.

Dolphin educational show for all

There are also some educational animal shows in the area, which are presented at different times of the day. For a dolphin show, it is held daily at 12.30pm. You will see how these dolphins (also a few otters) play balls, jump through rings and stand vertical on the water to shake hands with their instructors by their right fin. For 3.50 USD, you can have their postcard photo taken by a photographer while being kissed by the dolphins!

Ever thought of riding an elephant? This is the only place in the province to do that. For 1 USD, you can have a 2-minute elephant ride on a small circuit track. Amazingly, up to 2 adults and 2 small children (plus the elephant handler) can ride together on a single elephant. It’s a good way to save your money, isn’t it? You may wonder how much more burden an elephant can carry!

Easily accessible from the airport

Entrance ticket is 8 USD (also applies for toddlers over one year old and free entrance for babies) and it’s very easy to get to Taman Safari Park 2 from Surabaya. Simply rent a car from a car rental in the city and let the driver take you there. Depending on the type of car you want to use, the rent costs around 40 USD per day for a family car that includes a driver. It takes only 60 to 90 minutes to get there. Want to spend a night in the location? Don’t worry, as there are many hotels available in Tretes, a mountain retreat destination located 10 km away from the park.
