Pemuteran is a small town in Bali, mostly known for its largest artificial Biorock reef project in the world with a strong marine conservation movement in this area. Located in the northwest corner of Bali, Pemuteran boasts of artful resorts and a real beach getaway. The Singaraja–Gilimanuk road is a major route where many major businesses can be found along the road. If you decide to stay in Pemuteran, this is a great place to walk or get around by bicycle, and your hotel should be able to assist you should you need to rent a car or a motorbike.
If you decide to visit Pemuteran for a day trip, consider renting a car with driver to take you from Lovina to Pemuteran. Remember to fix the price in advance and make sure petrol is included to avoid other issues. You can also reach Pemuteran by taking the rattletrap buses (top tip: try to haggle the price if you’re a foreigner since the vehicle operators tend to overcharge tourists) and tell the driver to drop you off at Pemuteran. For the outdoorsy types, check out these top eight outdoor activities that you shouldn’t miss while in Pemuteran:

6. Sightseeing at Pura Pabean
Those who love sightseeing can marvel at the majestic architecture of Pura Pabean, one of the must-visit Balinese temples on the island. Also known as Geriya Konco Dewi, Pura Pabean is located on hilly grounds bordering the ocean and it overlooks the picturesque coast towards Pemuteran. You’ll need to do some climbing to reach the temple, but the view is worth the effort. If you plan to visit the temple (or any temple in Bali for that matter), it’s advised that you wear something modest like a sash or a sarong to respect the place of worship.

7. Sightseeing at Pulaki Temple
Opposite to Pura Pabean is the Pulaki Temple, which is one of the six most sacred temples of Bali counted. This temple is situated on the flat plateau with rocky hills as a backdrop, which makes for a breathtaking view. There’s a jungle behind the temple, which also happens to be the home to macaques, so expect lots of them wandering around the temple if you happen to be here! Because of this, the main courtyard is no longer quiet because of the monkeys, which are often waiting to steal the fruit of the sacrifices. The locals are accustomed to the monkeys and no longer mind them.
