Are you undecided on where to bring your kids during the school holiday? Would you like to give your children a meaningful experience beyond the typical vacation? Take your children for outbound activities at Kampoeng Kidz (Village Kids) in Batu, East Java, Indonesia.

Give your kids valuable experiences during their holiday at Kampoeng Kidz

Learn to farm at Kampoeng Kidz

During your visit you will meet friendly high school teenagers of SMA Selamat Pagi Indonesia (“Good Morning Indonesia” High School) and witness the professionalism of these teens. Upon your arrival to Kampoeng Kidz, you will be warmly greeted and informed on the available activities.

Kampoeng Kidz provides outbound trainings for children from as young as “preschool” age (2 to 5 years old) to Junior High teenagers. There are two programmes, namely entrepreneurship and adventure. The former introduces entrepreneurship to its participants who are taught to farm. Your child can try his/her hand at raising cattle in the school farm and learn how to make handicrafts.

The second programme is more fun and adventurous, with the objective of boosting courage and a sense of unity. Spend the afternoon trying out challenging adventures like flying fox or canoeing! Standard safety procedures (wearing a safety helmet, safety belt, life vest, etc.,) apply and children are always strictly supervised and watched by the trainers. Parents and nannies can also get involved in the supervision.

Allow your child to learn new skills while having fun!

An outbound activity (Flying Fox) at Kampoeng Kidz

Kampoeng Kidz outbound activities are available only on weekends and public or school holidays. Each program is divided into several segments. Those who opt for the entrepreneurship shall learn more about fishery, farming, etc. while the adventurous will partake in physical activities such as canoeing and flying fox. There are 3 to 5 teenagers in-charge for each program and each segment takes about 20 minutes.

Bring home meaningful homemade souvenirs

The entrance ticket is 15,000 IDR (around 1.10 USD) per person for adults and children aged three and above. Your child may choose the kind of wahana (local term meaning activity) that they are interested in. Depending on the type of activity, each session costs between 10,000 IDR (around 0.08 USD) to 25,000 IDR (around 2 USD) per child.

If you have a group of 5 to 10 children along with you (bring your nieces, nephews or a friend’s children), you can request for private sessions in English. Don’t worry about language barriers, because they often accept international tourists and student groups from English-speaking international schools around the area. Nevertheless, if you bring less than 5 children, you may have to join a group whereby instructions are communicated in both Indonesian and English.

Although the sessions are for kids, parents are welcome to accompany your kids during all sessions. This is especially so for families who have kids under 5 years old. You are encouraged to be present, as your kids may get anxious meeting new people. Parents of older kids may choose not to get involved. If so, they can sit somewhere and enjoy the surrounding mountainous view of Kampoeng Kidz, dine in the cafeteria or shop for Kampoeng Kidz’ homemade souvenirs like mini pots, bags and snacks.

Why not stay at Kampoeng Kidz?

Four-bed room

Since there are many kinds of outbound activities, your children may have activities lined up for more than a day. If so, you and your children can choose to stay in Kampoeng Kidz because they have their own guesthouse. Accommodation comes with breakfast, but unlike hotel, there is neither phone facility nor 24-hour room service. Bathrooms, although shared, are clean. Students provide hotel-standard cleaning service for all rooms and bathrooms everyday.

There are many hotels around the area and for sure this guesthouse is not as fancy as a hotel. However, staying in Kampoeng Kidz guesthouse will allow you and your children to experience things that you will not get from a hotel stay. Since the guesthouse is a part of Kampoeng Kidz, everything related to visitor service is done by its students. You and your children will witness the sincerity and professionalism of the students. Having the first-hand experience on how their multi-ethnic brothers and sisters live and work harmoniously in Kampoeng Kidz may inspire your children to be more sensible and helpful at home.
