Even though Raisina Hills is technically a mound right in front of Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the President of India, it’s referred to as the area where the seat of the Indian government is located. Along with Rashtrapati Bhawan, Raisina Hills features some of the most important offices of the Indian government, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, and Ministry of Defense. Along with the ministries, it includes the Parliament of India in its close proximity, making this small area the executive and legislative capital of the country. The historic complex of the seat of the Indian Government was built by the British Crown during the 1910s and 1920s. Rashtrapati Bhawan, which opened in 1931, was originally the residence of the Viceroy of India and was known as the Viceroy’s House up until India gained its sovereignty.

The historic imperial structures, such as Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate, and the old Parliament complex, make Raisina Hills one of the most important historic areas in the city. • Beware of scams

In the street markets or commercial centers, you might come across scammers selling different kinds of services and products. It would be best not to buy anything in which you have any doubt.

This is a pretty generic tip if you’re traveling anywhere. Having fully charged devices, especially phones, can save you from all kinds of trouble. You can also keep a power backup, such as a power bank.

  • Look out for traffic sergeants if you need help with directions

If you need any help regarding road regulations or directions while driving or walking around the city, you can always reach out to a traffic sergeant or a police official instead of asking a common person.

  • Have emergency contacts handy

Always keeping your emergency contacts handy is another generic tip that must be followed when traveling anywhere. If you have any acquaintances in Delhi, it would also be best to stay in touch with them.

  • Avail of women's cab services

If you’re a woman living alone or on a solo trip to Delhi, it’s best to avail of women's cab services. These include Sakha Cabs and ForShe Cabs, among others.
